Sunday June 16 2019 - The Bow and ArrowHold it!
No, I'm not talking about archery.

In my opinion, the Bow and Arrow is one of the most dangerous holds out there. It's both because of the difficult setup it requires to pull it out properly and the trust you need to put on your opponent. The jobber needs to face down while the heel puts both his knees on the jobber's back. He then puts his arms on the opponent's legs and chin, then turns backwards in a 180 degrees flip so that the opponent ends up facing up. If done improperly, you could probably break someone's neck... so yeah, don't do this at home unless you have the proper training for it or that you've tried it with someone who actually know what he is doing.

I've never applied this myself, but I was lucky enough to have both EvilDark (id 1077) and Tycoon (id 2690) apply this hold on two separate occasions.

Here's the one with EvilDark:

The Tycoon actually cheats here by putting his hand elsewhere... but it's not a cheat when your opponent doesn't mind it. It's not illegal either, but then again, you don't really get to see this on TV.

You'll notice that these versions are actually the tame and light versions because my feet are touching the mattress, hence reducing the weight my opponent needs to bear with their own knees. In the real version, you are technically completely dangling in mid-air because the opponent is also holding your feet. So all in all, you need someone who is close to your weight proportionally so that his knees on your back doesn't crush you and you need someone who is capable of holding your weight with his knees. With such complex requirements, it's no wonder you don't see this hold often. Visually though, I'd have to say it's beautiful to see.

Monday October 1 2018 - Full Nelson Body Scissors Time!Hold it!
It's time for some Full Nelson Body Scissors!
It's probably better to say that it's "Hammer Time!" ...because it's way shorter and it has a nicer overall sound or tune to it. *shrug*

I figured that after I posted my insignificant and useless signature hold on Transporteur (id 5373) in my previous post, I might as well post some now where this amazing hold actually did something!

I'll actually a very good trapping move and very effective if you push the nelson forward, but who wants that, right? Ironically, The real fun is when you loosen the nelson and squeeze the legs. That's a much better squeeze to bear. It's the difference between applying pressure on the neck or on the ribs. The sole purpose of the nelson is to make the sides a bit more tender to the hold, making it more vulnerable or sensitive. Most people can withstand body scissors anyway by hardening the body. The nelson prevents you from hardening the body... or actually, makes it slightly more difficult to do so. Why? Well, because the nelson stretches your body upwards, while you need to contract it to give yourself some resistance. Give it a try: if someone gives you a body scissors without it's underlying full nelson, you'll notice that you either use your arms to push the legs away or you'll clench your fists, putting your arms on the side as a defensive stance, making it easier for you to shield your body from the scissors.

Anyhow, let's start with Versus (id 5004). This guy is back in Switzerland. I wish I had spent more time wrestling this handsome stud. If I recall correctly, you can find him in BG under Leon Cyrus. It shows that this guy definitely has the body and the star power for the big leagues!

Next up, here's FuzzyYeti (id 6777) in trouble. Very nice guy and in my opinion, equally a handsome stud. I still wish we could wrestle again, but I think we've both accepted that we each go our different ways. I sometimes wonder if I did something to scare him away.

It's been ages since I wrestled the Wild Bear (id 4154). He spends half his time here in Montreal and the other half in the US. I always seem to catch him when he's down in the south though, but we've gotten in contact lately and we're now scrambling to try to meet up again.... hopefully soon. I invited him once to the ring, but he wasn't too enchanted with the idea. It's not everyone who likes wrestling rings. I suppose that a real bear wrestles in the comfort of his home.

Dr. Monarch (id 430) was very fond of mixing super hero adventures with wrestling. Not to mention that he insisted that I added extra flares and additional special effects into our pictures. These days, I believe he invests a lot of his time with music and he took a step back from wrestling. Don't ask me why I did not remove my socks in this picture. It was taken in 2011 and I was stupid enough back then for not noticing important details like this.

I'll finish with the signature on Be-Bear (id 2910). We still try to stay in touch... We send messages through Hangouts about once a month? (Yeah, I know. Most people use Facebook Messenger, What's App, Instagram, but both of us are stuck in the Google Hangouts generation, but you know what? It really doesn't matter). It's by looking at the dates of the match that I realize that this picture will soon be ten years old. Wow... Can time travel any faster?

A little extra note, if you check out the pictures by clicking on them, you'll also get the link back to the match if your heart has desires additional content.

October to December of this year are months where I've decided that I will get back on track: health-wise and consequently, wrestling-wise as well. Currently, I'm aiming to make a wrestling trip in November, but I don't have all the details just yet... and truth be told, nothing is set to stone.

Wednesday December 13 2017 - Dromedary clutches!Hold it!
You know what? I never understood why they specifically chose the camel instead of any other animal for this hold. Anyway, I posted the other day a set of boston crabs, so it is only fair that I post a series of camel clutches, right?

We'll start with one against RBWrestle (id 395). Usually I am the prey who falls victim to this hold, but this fellow likes this hold, so what gives?

This one below is from Fightdure (id 1591). This guy disappeared from the wrestling scene after he found his soulmate. I wish I could still wrestle him, but I'm very happy for him either ways. He's a sweet and generous guy that wouldn't hurt a fly, really. One of my past encounters with him is still available under Match ID 128, the shots that were taken in that scenario were however before his loss of weight.

I like how EvilDark (id 1077) is holding the camel in this one. That's one good way of doing it. It's almost a sleeper/headlock.

Last, but not least, this camel is applied by the mighty CT_Bodyslams (id 6931) who isn't afraid to show off and flex his muscles.

Next time I do this, I checked out the distribution charts and I apparently need to put up more full nelsons.

Friday November 10 2017 - Boston Seafood fest!Hold it!
I have never been able to build a good resistance against Boston crabs or anything that would stretch my body or my back especially. I can defend well against holds that squeeze, but stretching is a whole different territory for me. Mind you, Boston crabs make great pictures, but usually only if you have someone who will take the shot at the right angle.

Take this shot with MarcWrestler (id 3658) for example. You can't really determine who the wrestlers really are since you can't view their faces.... but these are great if you want to post anonymous pictures online.

The same applies to this crab I applied on Eman (id 2668) although the slight difference here is that you still wouldn't see the opponent's face because of the mask.

Now taken sideways, these crabs are a little bit nicer. You can clearly see here that I can't take much on the arc. In fact, it looks like as if I'm completely straight and can't even arch my back. BeastMtl (id 10067) also purposely restrained himself from going further because we were playing it cautiously.

Backbreakers123 (id 209) went a bit further because he has the experience and can gauge pretty well tolerance and resistance. He also knows how to make the hold a bit more spectacular without having to increase the pain.

Lastly, this shot was taken by someone holding the camera whereas the rest above, the camera was staying still on a tripod. I personally like this image, but that's a matter of perspective. Real crab-lovers would love to see instead the other side of the picture where the opponent is suffering. If you're wondering who's down there, it's Vicious (id 5128).

I cheated and posted today only the Boston crabs taken in the ring. I do kind of miss it a lot. I've been taking it for granted and I realize that I lost a lot now that I no longer have access to it. This is reinforced by the fact that these past few weeks, I've been wrestling in hotel and motel rooms and I can see how restrictive and how much of a hassle it is. I contacted the owner of the ring and it probably won't be up until next year.

Monday May 1 2017 - I <3 the Full Nelson Grapevine Combo + Sub holds rankingHold it!
The title reads: "I heart the Full Nelson Grapevine Combo"... or "I love the Full Nelson Grapevine Combo".

I'm going to cheat today and extract three pictures that are already available from my matches.

I've always loved being put into the Full Nelson Grapevine combo. The stretch is amazing and it's really what the body needs after a long day of work. This shot below came from my match against Rassle4Fun.

This one is from my regular opponent in Chapter 4 against EvilDark. You can see my bare feet pretty well in this shot and in the one above. I know someone who's going to be happy to see that...

This last one comes from my match against Bane. This behemoth nearly destroyed me... not that I mind it.

His hairy legs drives me nuts... (in a good sense), but not as much as his hairy chest. If you saw his face, you'd melt, but you can't have everything.

I know the socks are ridiculous. I should have told Bane to remove them... I would have removed mine as well.

If I have to classify my favorite holds in terms of ranking order to apply, to receive and in terms of reliability, this would be the ranking:

Favorite submission holds as a giver (in terms of putting someone into these holds):
#1 Torture Rack (I love putting my opponents into this)
#2 Full Nelson Body Scissors
#3 Bearhug
#4 Full Nelson Grapevine
#5 Reverse Indian Deathlock

Favorite submission holds as a victim (in terms of being put into these holds):
#1 Full Nelson Body Scissors (I love when my opponents put this on me)
#2 Full Nelson Grapevine
#3 Bearhug
#4 Torture Rack
#5 Reverse Indian Deathlock

Most reliable submission holds (in terms of successful taps):
#1 Ankle Lock (I get a lot of opponents who submit in these)
#2 Leg Scissors
#3 Body Scissors
#4 Reverse Indian Deathlock
#5 Torture Rack

Actually, let's add one more listing:

Most cost-effective holds (in terms of less energy spent to make someone tap):
#1 Reverse Indian Deathlock
#2 Ankle Lock
#3 Leg Scissors
...and I'll have to think about it for #4 and #5.

Tuesday April 11 2017 - Signature hold: Full Nelson Body ScissorsHold it!
I apparently haven't posted any Full Nelson Body Scissors (FNBS for short) since... February 2016.

Ouch.

Considering that this is my signature sub hold and my 3rd most successful submission giver, it's a bit surprising that I haven't posted any other photos since then.

I realized shortly after my assessment above that shots for the Full Nelson Body Scissors usually require a photograph because of its angle and also because it is done on the floor/mats. I guess I rarely find a good angle when I take this hold from a tripod, which accounts for about 90% of the photos I take.

Anyhow, to even up the quota for this signature hold, here are a couple of pictures taken from my previous match and you'll understand what I mean when I talk about the proper angle. This one below is with SammyNoviceWrestler (id 7721) back in July 2016. It's a screen capture from a video, hence the lower quality.

Up next, I applied it on Transporteur (id 5373). I thought he could resist it, but I think he gave me a little tap on the leg to hint me that I need to tone down the pressure. This is also a screen cap. It was taken on January 2016.

This last one is with the The Mauler (id 2963) while I was in Florida for a conference from work in May 2015. As far as I'm concerned, the photos are in his hands and he has full control over the scenario for this match. It is supposed to be a continuation of our first chapter.

This is the only one in today's set that is not a screen capture, but a photo. You can tell the difference.

I suppose I can also make a Hall of FNBS, but the rack just seems a lot more impressive than the FNBS itself.

I always wondered: Should it be the Full Nelson Body Scissors or the Body Scissors Full Nelson? I always opted for the first form, it just seems a bit more logical. You put the full nelson first, and then apply your body scissors.

In case you are wondering, since the FNBS is my 3rd submission giver, the Ankle Lock and the Leg Scissors are my #1 and #2 most reliable sub-style submission moves. The Leg Scissors is more effective than the Ankle Lock, but the Leg Scissors is usually harder to pull off and I generally consider it as a cheat hold because I'm using the knee bone against my opponent's leg muscles, hence why it's downgraded to #2. In any case, most wrestlers move swiftly and know how to avoid a leg scissor whereas you will have an easier time to catch someone off-guard for an ankle lock.
